High Court sentences three to death for drug trafficking

The Colombo High Court today (16) sentenced three defendants to death for possession and trafficking of heroin.

The three were arrested by police in 2018 while transporting over 179 kilograms of heroin on a multi-day fishing vessel in the waters around Beruwala.

Meanwhile, Colombo High Court Judge Aditya Patabendige also ordered the acquittal and release of five other defendants charged in connection with the incident.
